Access Quest NZ is a small accessibility consultancy helping organisations in the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) sector become more accessible to the Deaf and disabled communities of Aotearoa New Zealand.
That all people, no matter their ability, have access to New Zealand's GLAM sector.
Access Quest NZ operates based on the following values:
With these values in mind, our goals are:
Access Quest NZ is lead by accessibility specialist, Amy Boswell-Hore. She has three key attributes that make her a great choice for your accessibility project; GLAM sector experience, lived disability experience, and a drive to make accessibility happen.
Amy has a Masters of Museum and Heritage Practice from Victoria University of Wellington, where she focused on developing Museum Accessibility. Alongside this, she has nearly a decade of experience working in museums, collections, and libraries. While other companies may know accessibility, Amy knows how to best apply accessibility to the GLAM sector, helping you choose what is right for your environment.
Amy also knows accessibility on a personal level. Not only is Amy disabled herself, but has lived experience with a range of disabilities through her family and friends. Some of her recommendations may come from legal requirements and best practice, while others come from personal experience that guidelines just cannot capture.
Because of her lived experience with disability and history with accessibility, Amy wants to see New Zealand's GLAM sector become one of the most accessible GLAM sectors in the world. Her drive will help you find solutions to your accessibility problems and help the Deaf and disabled community enjoy your environment.
Access Quest NZ wants to make your accessibility journey to be as simple as possible. Some level of accessibility is always possible and everything that you do is going to help somebody thrive.
